Solidarity
From the Department of Solidarity of the Castelló d’Empúries Town Council, we organise our tasks around three basis working fields:
1. Emergency aid for human and natural catastrophes:
- Material, economic and/or human support in international emergencies that can be given during specific periods of the year in order to help those affected by human or natural catastrophes directly from the Town Council itself or the NGOs.
2. Development cooperation projects:
- Promotion of the ties established with the Nicaraguan village of Telica, a sister city of Castelló d’Empúries.
- Participation in international projects proposed by the Fons Català de Cooperació al Desenvolupament (FCCD).
- Supporting local entities such as the Associació Joan Alsina (local NGO) that works with international cooperation and solidarity.
- We provide training for both individuals and/or entities.
3. Awareness campaign about international cooperation and solidarity in the local sphere:
- Organisation of conferences, chats, screening of films, workshops and performances by musical groups related to cooperation and international solidarity.
4. Local solidarity network:
- Promotion of the value of solidarity amongst the citizens of Castelló d’Empúries in the broadest sense.
