Our work is basically structured around four main points:

1) Projects with a transversal approach: The participation of various municipal departments, with regard to action as well as resource:

• To pass the content of the protocol among all the professionals that make up or report to Castelló d'Empúries Council, signatory bodies, associations and entities in the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries.

• To put together prevention plans to promote awareness among the whole population.

•    To provide tools and resources to the different associations and entities to create events that promote equality.

•   Our Castelló d'Empúries ‘Equality plan’ 2006 is included in this section, which refers to the need to create an area to deal with and reflect on matters of inequality.

 
We are interested in carrying out work to achieve equality, which tends to be work consistent with the implication of different social agents. We want to boost the resources that already exist and create those necessary to offer a tool which favours gender related equality and the empowerment of women.

• Permanent training. To create and implement training plans (courses, days and seminars).

3) Programmes that comprehensively deal with the different manifestations of sexist violence: Protocol and assistance circle for victims of family and gender related violence:

One of the immediate responses that had to be faced were instances of abuse, where the circle was not well defined, making the crisis situation and its whole process, for the affected individual, harder to overcome.

For this reason, the Castelló d'Empúries Council’s Department for Women has created a technical team to design a circle to establish some consistent performance guidelines for the whole municipality, which have positive repercussions for the victims themselves.

 
As such, the technical team was formed and THE FAMILY AND GENDER RELATED VIOLENCE PROTOCOL AND ASSISTANCE CIRCLE, was created and approved by the Municipal Plenary Session.

We believe that it is evident that the society in which we live today continues to be dominated by the patriarchal model of organisation
